Our Reason For Being
Global Village Travels® was born in 1996 from our profound desire to share our unique travel experiences with others. The inspiration for our name comes from Marshall McLuhan's 1962 book, The Gutenberg Galaxy, in which he wrote, "The new electronic interdependence recreates the world in the image of the global village." This is probably the first time these differing concepts of 'global' and 'village' were comfortably merged.
We, here at Global Village Travels®, envision the world as a "tossed salad", each flavor to be savored, rather than a "melting pot". We believe that no one has to give up his or her cultural identity. Cultural differences are to be lived with and enjoyed. Travel encourages the appreciation of human diversity, interdependence and broadens the mind.
